Service to the community

The Arabian Oasis is dedicated to serving as a resource center and a host site for various events. It functions to provide a place for conversation and socializing, planned social and educational events and for practical services to Arabic-speaking immigrants, students, refugees and their families, as described below.

• Monthly:

• Movie Nights (Arabic language films)
• Tuesday Night Women’s Meeting (socializing)

• Annual Celebrations of Holidays & Festivals:

• Eid
• Christmas
• Easter
• Ramadan
• Fourth of July
• Thanksgiving
• Children’s Festival

• Occasional:

• Hosting birthday parties and family celebrations for members of Arab community
• Hosting community groups for special events
• Providing assistance in translation and explanation of documents and paperwork for Arabic speakers
• Helping refugees find and use appropriate state and local community services and organizations designed to assist with resettlement efforts

• Educational:

• Hosting community seminars for youths and adults on Arab culture, customs and varieties of religious practice
• Presenting information to local community organizations about Arab culture, customs and varieties of religious practices
• Providing one-on-one assistance to Arabic language speakers seeking to improve English language skills
• Using books and other written resources in Arabic and English
